The why, what, and how behind the new individual registration process with Rowing New Zealand

From the 2025/26 season, Rowing NZ is excited to introduce a more connected and inclusive membership approach that brings everyone in our rowing family together.

Rowing Connect is RNZ’s new digital system replacing MemberConnex. Any individual joining an RNZ affiliated rowing organization is required to:

  • Complete your Club/Schools usual sign-up process, AND
  • Register with Rowing New Zealand via Rowing Connect (new).

This includes -  license or unlicensed rowers, coaches, committee members, race officials, volunteers, supporters, parents etc).

Guided by feedback from our community, this new direction allows us to strengthen relationships across the sport through clearer communication, greater visibility of opportunities, and a shared commitment to positive values and standards. This shift also supports our obligations under the Incorporated Societies Act, ensuring we have individual membership records with appropriate consent, helping us build a more transparent, unified, and future-focused rowing environment for generations to come.

Club and School affiliates
  1. Your Club has a unique Rowing Connect registration link, while each of your affiliate schools also have a separate unique registration link.
  2. All affiliate schools are still set up in Rowing Connect underneath your club, so while the student completes the school Rowing Connect registration link, their information will still be attached to your club.
  3. From a Club’s perspective, you will be able to oversee your full membership, while being able to report on specific group of members e.g. a particular school.

It is important that individuals affiliated with a school rowing program register via the school registration link because:

  1. Rowers will appear in rowIT linked to their school & club,
  2. Clubs have over-arching management and view of all members (club & school members) within Rowing Connect.

Thisis set up so if your Club adopts Rowing Connect as your membership management system in future, it will be ready to go.

Your Club & affiliate schools unique registration link is shifting towards individual registration, this means once a member signs up with your Club/School, they are then required to also sign up with Rowing New Zealand via your unique Rowing Connect registration link.
